The written word is a wonderful thing, it can take you where you never have been.
It can transport you from your fireside glow, to far off lands like Borneo.
It can tell of love thats pure or of passion that's not.
It can talk of murder and have a good plot.
You can lose yourself in the written word.
It can be serious or quite absurd.
When I am reading I'm lost in the page,
I play a part as if on stage.
I hear people talk in accents and things,
I can picture their faces, their frowns and their grins.
It could be a factual or a fictional book,
It does'nt matter I have to look.
Lines of prose or poetic verse,
On my knee you will see me nurse,
A book that I can lose myself in.
Yes the written word is a wonderful thing
