Mothering Sunday Dreams.
When I was small I used to go,
to the local church you know,
We'd listen to the vicar say ,
how we must be so good today.
He tell us stories from years gone by ,
of Jesus the apple of his mothers eye.
Then we'd sing and praise the Lord ,
for mothers here and far abroad.
When I grew up and my kids were small,
we used to go to church an' all.
The songs were brighter full of cheer,
but the stories were the same to hear.
Afterwards we stopped for tea,
and daffodils to give to me.
Now my children are mothers too,
with jobs and kids so much to do.
No church today will see their face,
the speed of life is such a race,
Commercial gifts are given today,
no little hands hold a daffodil spray.
They say I'm getting old you know,
but it was so nice when to church we'd go.
